"Not Quite" Pro Tip - Grip Size
I've done a heck of a lot of experimenting with several paddles. This holds true and can make a paddle work for you that is not quite working.
- Rolls and flicks not dialing in, rolling high, maybe long? Increase the grip size. Add another overgrip. It will flatten out the shot and adjust your paddle to your technique rather than adjusting your technique to the padle.
- Rolls and flicks coming off flat clipping the tape. Having a hard time getting the usual dip for your angles or aggressive dinks? Decrease the grip size. Peel off the stock grip.. go with two overgrips. You'll also gain feel of the ball.
IMO - it is a very undiscussed modification method. That little bit of roll in the hands is exagerated by the time it reaches the paddle face. This is why customizing your grip size to what you are seeing your ball do can be effective. Sometimes its you and your technique. But.. when you know your technique is sound and you own that shot.. but not finidng it.. this is an option.
