Upload hits max speeds then drops to a low stable speed
I recently switched internet providers and increased my upload speed by about 10x. I was hoping I’d be able to seed torrents much faster, but I’m running into a weird bottleneck. My setup is Gluetun, qBittorrent, and a port manager that automatically updates qBittorrent with Gluetun’s forwarded port. I’m using ProtonVPN and I’m connected via Ethernet.
When I restart my containers, my upload speeds initially hit the expected range, around 25–30 MB/s. After a few minutes though it drops down to 0B/s and then slowly climbs up to around 1.5-2.5 MB/s.
I’ve checked a lot of my settings. There is no upload limit set in qBittorrent, alternative speed limits/turtle mode are disabled, qBittorrent is using the forwarded port from Gluetun, I’m connected via Ethernet, the containers appear to be working normally, and ISP upload speed tests are much higher than what qBittorrent settles at.
I’m not sure what’s causing the drop. Since the speed briefly reaches the expected max after restarting, it feels like something is bottlenecking or throttling after a few minutes, but I can’t figure out where. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this?
