FedEx sent this message: "Clearance delay - Import. Description provided is insufficient to classify commodity.".

TD messaged me and said for me to call FedEx to see what they need so that they don't send it back to HK. When I call, they said they needed a further description of the item in order to get it through customs. So my dumbass asked Google what info FedEx needs, and ultimately I sent this to the FedEx 'paperwork' email address: "Description of item being shipped: 1x novelty wristwatch, automatic, stainless steel case and bracelet. Movement: chinese origin. Total Value: $160. Breakdown: Movement $80, Case $40, Strap $40.".

TD then got back to me and is making me think that was not the correct thing to do lol. Last thing they told me was to just wait and see if customs sends me anything in the mail.. This is my first rep watch, and first time dealing with customs like this. Just trying to know how screwed I am, and if there's any way to salvage it. Thanks in advance. (Photo is of 'my' watch, lost in some customs warehouse)

Back in 2007, my wife's grandfather bought a vintage 1980 Ellipse to be handed down in the family. And just recently my FIL said he would like to pass it on to me now (or in the next several months). I am immensely grateful and excited to keep this heirloom alive as the watch really hasn't seen much wrist time since 07. But I did have a couple of questions and welcome advice on anything I should do once I get the watch.

1 - it hasn't been serviced in at least 10 years. Maybe longer. Do I need to send it to PP in Switzerland for servicing? Their website also has a place in NYC listed as being able to work on vintage watches, would I be better off sending it there?

2 - I have papers from the 2007 sale (at a vintage jewelry shop), but no official PP papers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think PP will provide authenticity papers? Even if they do, is it worth getting those?

3 - other than servicing, is there anything else I should look to do? Is 'waterproofing' (ie new gaskets) included in servicing? Or do I need to avoid water like the plague and take the watch off to wash my hands.

4 - any other tips /advice on caring for an amazing, yet older watch are welcome. Thanks in advance!
