45F. Just started seeing a new doctor and she called me ALARMED yesterday with my lab results. Immediately put me on Ferrous Sulfate 325 and gave me a referral to see a hematologist for iron infusions. I spent forever on the phone with my insurance confirming coverage and finally called to make an appointment only to be told there's a doctor shortage right now and they can't accept referrals outside of their hospital system. Now I'm waiting for her to send a new referral but I'm also concerned about how long it might take me to be seen. I sporadically have some symptoms (dizziness, shortness of breath, feeling like absolute garbage) but no heart palpitations or chest pains. One of my best friends is a doctor and suggested I go to the ER for a transfusion. I'm trying not to freak out but this is scary.
