I’ve been running casually for a bit and I’ve just been using my phone with a running app to track distance and pace. It’s okay but sometimes feels a bit clunky, especially when I just want to focus on running and not fiddling with my phone.

Is it actually worth switching to a dedicated running watch at this stage, or should I just stick with my phone until I’m more consistent? Curious if people noticed a big difference in motivation or tracking accuracy when they switched. Thanks in advance!

Getting ready for my first marathon and trying to figure out what kind of running watch actually makes sense. My longer runs are starting to expose how inconsistent my pacing is, and I don’t want to rely on something that won’t last through the full 26.2 miles.

For people who’ve already run a marathon, what features in your watch ended up actually mattering the most on race day, was it pacing alerts, heart rate tracking, or just reliable GPS and battery life? I’d really appreciate hearing what helped you the most in real use. Thank you
