Help Me Find a Boat My Dad and I Built Together

I'm hoping the internet can do its thing.

Around 2007–2008, my father and I built a Devlin Dipper 17 from plans in Ontario, Canada. It was a home-built wooden cruiser with a dark green hull, white cabin, varnished trim, and bronze portlights.

Not long after the boat was completed, my father passed away and the boat was sold. For years I had no idea what became of it.

Recently, I've managed to trace its history. It was purchased by a woman in Bay Shore, New York and spent several years cruising Great South Bay and the waters around Fire Island. She described the boat as "a treasure" and said she never modified it because it was perfect the way she bought it.

After Hurricane Sandy, she sold the boat to a gentleman somewhere on Long Island. That's where the trail currently ends.

The boat carried Ontario pleasure craft licence number ON1186656 while it was in New York.

I'm attaching photos from both when we built it and later during its time on Long Island.

I'm not trying to make a legal claim or anything like that. I would simply love to know whether the boat still exists, where it ended up, and if possible, have the opportunity to reconnect with it someday. It was one of the last major projects my dad and I worked on together, and finding it would mean a lot to me.

If you recognize the boat, remember seeing it around:

Great South Bay

Fire Island

Bay Shore

Sayville

Patchogue

Anywhere else on Long Island

please let me know.

Thank you.
