I’m visiting Tokyo with my 2 kids (10, 12) in mid-June. Will be there for a bit over a week. I am looking into getting away from the city for a day or two. What would be a good day trip away from the city i June?

- Nikko looks really interesting and I am also considering Edo wonderland to have some kind of ninja or samurai ”experience”. In Tokyo I saw a place where you could cut bamboo with Katanas so maybe this enough? This trip could be combined with the train museum north of Tokyo.
- Kamakura has the buddha statue but I don’t know what else would be interesting for the kids.

I’ve been to Hakone before (not the kids) and want to discover a new place. I am open for other suggestions. Thanks!
