Pre health or gap year

I honestly don’t know what to do and I need advice from people who’ve actually been through this.My goal is nursing eventually (possibly Western 3 year program ), but I’m stuck between upgrading my high school courses or doing Pre-Health at Fanshawe.I’m gonna be real I wasn’t a great high school student. I didn’t really care in Grade 9/10, started trying more in Grade 11, and now in Grade 12 I’m doing a bit better, but I know my foundation in some subjects still isn’t the strongest.Part of me wants to just upgrade my sciences and apply directly to nursing, but another part of me feels like I should do Pre-Health to prove I can handle it academically. The thing I’m worried about is if I do Pre-Health and my grades aren’t amazing, universities might focus more on those marks instead of my upgraded high school ones. I also don’t want to feel like I’m wasting time or falling behind while everyone else moves on.For people who were in a similar situation:
Did you upgrade or do Pre-Health?
Which one was harder?
If you struggled in high school, what helped you turn things around?
I’d really appreciate honest advice.
