We have two old (40+ years) coconut trees within our property. I'm not sure of their long-term stability and hence would like to cut them down, or atleast take an informed opinion and attempt to to improve their stability.

What is the process I'd need to follow for this? Should I visit BBMP or the forest dependent? Will they inspect and suggest/cut the trees if needed?

I've been renovating my father's 45-year old house. We've always had an open area to one side that was used as a garden for a couple of decades before it was screeded over for other purposes. Two coconut trees were planted about 35 or 40 years ago.

Recently, I've gotten all of the screed removed. Roots at the base of both trees lie exposed.

Pictured is the one that's more so. This tree had a low platform built around it which has also been removed. The ground level around both trees harbours roots just below the surface.

Can this tree stand on its own? How can I judge it support It's got from the ground?
