Tricare/Humana

I am so tired of chasing down payments from this insurer. I'm a prescriber. I have more unpaid claims from Humana than all other insurances combined. They're processed, just not paying me. I recently got a check from an OCTOBER appointment. Does anyone have any advice on how to get them to pay in a timely manner? I'm about to stop taking this insurance. It is a damned shame that the insurance for our military service members sucks this bad.

Why is a sheriff a political position?

Genuinely curious. I'll explain: I live in Piscataquis county, and the sheriff is retiring after a long tenure of service. Three or four different people are running to be the sheriff of the county however there were no Democrats who threw their hat in the ring. On Tuesday, Republican voters chose one of the people running for the primary however they are unopposed. Wouldn't that make this the general election? It seems like the Republicans chose the next Sheriff, disenfranchising independent and democratic voters. There won't be a dem on the ballot, and write ins, historically, are not statistically significant. I get that the people running have R beside their name, but shouldn't all the voters in the county get to choose which person fills the position? Not looking to be flamed or called an idiot. I honestly feel puzzled about this. Piscataquis is a very conservative county however shouldn't we all get to choose which person we feel is most qualified for a law-enforcement position that serves all citizens?

Editing for clarity: I would've voted for one of the Republican candidates for Sheriff. I supported one of them. It just seems performative to have a primary when basically the sheriff has been chosen before the general election. It's too late for a Dem or Independent to run. I'm not lamenting the absence of other parties. I'm just questioning having a "primary" when the person who won the primary is clearly the winner of the whole shebang. We should've all gotten to vote on those candidates because the Sheriff serves the entire county, not just the Republican citizens. I hope that makes more sense.
