I’m currently a Class 1 flight instructor in Canada, where it’s quite common for pilots to pursue instructing as a long-term career and eventually become examiners.

However, I rarely see anyone on this forum mention being a career CFI. I’m also unsure whether primarily single-engine instructional time is sufficient to qualify as a DGCA examiner for PPL/CPL.

Why is that? I’ve also heard that CFI pay can be comparable to airline captain salaries, so I’m trying to understand the reality of that. I’d really appreciate some perspective, as I’ve been considering making the switch.
