I’ve been down the rabbit hole again and although I’m sure I didn’t read everything, I’ve been thinking they had prior incidents before settling at that last location. My thinking is an avalanche that hit the comrades who had impact injuries. This would have slowed them down even more, with a worsening weather that made them settle in a vulnerable location. When the snow above the tent slipped, they cut their way out of it and slowly carried each other out. Then, it goes downhill from there.

It was in the early 2010s, the main characters had magical powers and fought evil together. For some reason some evil people wanted their powers. One of the guys is a high schooler with a jet black bob like Ao no Exorcist. When his powers are triggered, kanji scripts appear all over his body. Another one is a taller one with a hat, who is depressed because of his power, and ultimately dies by evaporating on a swinging chair at the end. Wild, I know. The style is more shoujo-ish than famous or contemporary shounen such as Naruto or Fairytale.
