Hey team,
Admitted lawyer currently working in banking (non-lawyer role) thinking about doing a grad dip and becoming a migration agent.
Bilingual and did quite well in Admin Law but heard the material is quite challenging, but I'm keen.
Any tips much appreciated!
Hey all,
Hoping to get some clarity from people working in migration law / as RMAs, especially in Victoria.
I’ve got an LLB and I’m admitted, but not currently practising. I’m considering doing the Grad Dip in Migration Law (either VU or UTS) and going down the RMA route instead.
A few things I’d love input on:
Are there real advantages to being an admitted (but non-practising) lawyer working as an RMA? Does it actually help with clients, credibility, or outcomes?
Is there any strategic reason to choose the agent path over getting a practising certificate and working as a migration lawyer?
Keen to hear real experiences, pros/cons, or anything you wish you knew before going down this path.
I've also posted in the careers thread in r/auslaw
Thanks!
