Mega gold farm question

No two portals share a chunk

Usually there's more tridents in here. Had to take them out for now

I have 48 portals and currently have them feed into 2 separate 8x8 trident killers. Each portal is in their own chunk so don't worry about that. Anyways from the looks of it, the 8x8 trident killer chunks might have corrupted. There are ghost blocks and pistons can't seem to push the carpet to move the tridents anymore. Also hoppers stopped working so that's cool. So should I move to 48 separate 1x1 killers instead? Could the issue be due to the sheer amount of piglins alive at once??

Can I really not have 2 portals in the same chunk for a gold farm?

My farm will have 48 portals. Do I really need to space this out by chunks so much? I also need to cram in a sorting system within simulation distance and this chunk limit makes it really hard. I hear that there can only be 1 portal per chunk due to the 100 tick limit. Is this true?

Currently I'm making a farm that can produce 70 mobs per second (on the very high end) and I would like to have them be killed by looting. Is a 3x3 trident killer enough for that, or should I go beyond that? I've theorized a possible spear killer with zombies holding spears on minecarts, but I'm not sure that will work under all the lag. Any ideas?

For context, this is a zombie piglin farm for lots of gold.

This zombie piglin farm, nicknamed the "Whole Hog" has 48 portals. I have calculated (though may be wrong) that this generates 228,600 hogs per hour (ignoring lag)

Layout of the farm

Math for that:

1 portal "flickers" twice per second

48 portals * 2 = 96 flickers/s

Area of portal blocks is 21x21, so 441 total portal blocks activate per portal

441 * 96 = 42,336 portal block flickers/s (yikes)

A zombie piglin has a 3/2000 (0.15%) chance of spawning from a portal block on hard

42,336 * 0.0015 = 63.5 hogs/s * 60 -> 3810 hogs/minute * 60 -> 228,614 hogs/h

Hopefully that math is right

Anyways currently we have 5 3x3 trident killers to handle this. I attached the image of how I handle that. Each trident killer will have 6 tridents.

So far we haven't been able to get the farm running full speed yet since we aren't ready, but are 5 trident killers like this feasible for this farm? The tridents give us looting thanks to sword swapping, so if possible we'd like to use them. We've gone through multiple designs and can't seem to land on one that makes us confident it can handle the farm.

So is this reasonable? If not, what are some other solutions? Is looting really that important? Sometimes the trident killer clock just stops due to lag

We theorized a potential "Spear killer" using spears with zombie holding it on rails that shred through the hogs. Maybe that could work?
