Need advice as a 24 year old

Earlier this year, I went to the emergency care after falling off a horse. They ran some tests, and found that I have a fractured back. Couple weeks later, I got a bill for 30,000k after insurance adjustment. I was utterly shocked and devastated, as I have no other debts and manage my finances really well. However, that’s a huge amount for me , especially considering that I didn’t get any procedures done, just imaging, ct scan, etc. I tried to do the itemized bill trick, negotiated them, etc, but they refused to lower the bill. One of the items was a pregnancy test that was $500! I let them know that’s extremely unreasonable and unethical, but they still wouldn’t budge. I keep getting emails and calls, and I’m unsure what to do. Someone told me to wait until it goes to collections, and try to negotiate with them there. Would this affect my credit score or do I have worry about anything ? Please help!
