Travel advice ?
TLDR: we MAY be getting guardianship of my nephew ( age 3) but court isn’t until mid June. We have a trip already planned end of August (haven’t purchased airline tickets yet). Should I get him a ticket now ? Wait until court ? What if court gets delayed ?
Okay so my husband and I, and our 3 kids have planned a trip to see my husbands grandfather. This will be the first time we fly with our children, so I’m already pretty nervous about it. We haven’t gotten our tickets yet because we were waiting for prices to go down.
We were going to already spend the extra money to do a seat selection for each ticket, our kids will be 8,6&3 at the time of the flight. Plus one of our kids is a type 1 diabetic. So that’s a whole other travel ordeal.
Here’s the bigger issue. I just found out we may be getting guardianship of my nephew. The first court date is set mid June. I feel like every court case I’ve followed lately has continuance after continuance. I don’t want to guarantee we will have him and if the court does grant us guardianship, I’m not sure even when it will be. But we don’t want to just cancel our trip. We would bring him along.
I’m concerned though, if we don’t get him and we got him a plane ticket, do we just eat the cost of the ticket ? Is there a way to add extra cancellation insurance on just one ticket in the group? I worry about waiting to purchase just him a ticket and then the airline be sold out for our flight or something.
What if we wait until mid June to look at tickets and there’s a continuation until mid July ? I have no idea what to do and I’m just so stressed out 😅 please help
