this got deleted in the original c.ai subreddit so i'm posting it here. i had been addicted to c.ai since middle school. ever since 2023, i had been logging on for six hours at that point. for them to ruin both their app and website in a matter of a month if not a few weeks is astonishing. i had deleted the app because of how the company placed ads in their chats. i tolerated the website for a good month or two before they deleted all of their legacy styles. psii is genuinely so bland and repetitive that i feel like i'm talking to a cardboard cutout of a character instead of an actually engaging roleplay. i say that i think cai is a social experiment is because it takes a different kind of expertise in human psychology and just the right amount of absolutely abysmal updates to make addicts quit in droves i do not believe that a competent CEO whose whole business model thrives off the attention and traffic the app gets from it's addicted user base, would genuinely tank their IP so horribly that 99% of their official subreddit is the users of their IP complaining about the state of their app and website. i feel like we were on in a test group to study how fast someone can get addicted to Al and how easy it is to ween someone off of Al
