Hey all,

mid/senior level producer here looking for some perspective.

A company recently reached out to me about a freelance opportunity, but didn’t provide a job description. After doing some digging, I saw that their VP had posted about the role about a month ago, labeling it as a Senior Video Brand Producer position.

When the interview started, it immediately jumped into the role. The head of production began running through the role very quickly; it was honestly hard to keep up or even take notes before others jumped in and added more layers of responsibility. The whole thing felt pretty rushed and a bit scattered.

From what I could gather, they’re essentially looking for someone to operate as a hybrid of creative director, art director, and producer; all for around $100K. The workload also sounds heavy: managing 4–8 projects at once across multiple brands, often overlapping in timing.

A big emphasis was placed on:
• Building director treatment decks
• Supporting pitches and ad proposals across different brands within the organization

They also mentioned they’re trying to hire within the next few days, which added to the urgency.

My overall impression is that they’re looking for a workhorse ASAP and may not have the right structure or resources in place.

Curious to hear from EPs or senior freelance producers:
• Is it typical for larger media companies to run panel interviews like this without a clear job description?
• Does this scope feel reasonable for the level and compensation?
• What are the biggest red flags you look for in situations like this?

Appreciate any insight.

Thanks!
