Is this even a rock? Found in Heislerville, NJ along the Delaware Bay.
Apologies for no dry photo, didn't want to remove it from the beach. But, I found several of these fragments along the shore. Curious if this is even a rock? Please, direct me to the correct place if I'm wrong. It was light weight and felt like if I pressed hard enough, I could make an indent/break a piece off. I initially thought it was some kind of wood, but a quick search suggests it's furnace slag? Curious if anyone has any insight.
