Completion short rant
Completed today.
Got into the flat, found a lovely bottle of fizz and some toilet paper. The flat was clean and only a few bits left out. Honestly we were so excited. I couldn't wait to move all our stuff in the next day.
So I hoover a bit in prep, as you do,
And I knock over one of the boards under the stove. I go to put it back and notice something under there...
a dead mouse
Naturally,
I gagged and made my partner double check what I saw..
Yep a dead mouse it was
I immediately called the pest control man and he came an hour later. He pulled away all our boards and he said there was definitely more than one mouse based on the amount of droppings and we had to get a procedure done to get them removed. Not only that, but he also found several holes where there were presumably getting in from.
So to get the procedure is £320 and then to get the holes patched up is £450
In the middle of the guy doing his thing, our doorbell rings and it's the previous owner because he forgot something. He asked how we liked the flat and I burst into tears telling him about the mice. He was completely baffled. I felt so bad. I truly believe he didn't know and I didn't meant to make him feel bad about it. He tried to change the subject but honestly it was hard for me to think of anything else.
So yeah, excellent first day.
Trying to stay positive. The mice should be gone in the next few days and we can even get a warranty for it he says ( only 6 months but still).
I'm hoping its still a dream house. It's an old building and I feel like we may not have even noticed.
Seeing it as a blessing in disguise
