Hi,
I wrote a Poetic Horror short film called 'Onderstroom' (= Undertow) with my friend about my experience of being pregnant.
We all know the stories of women getting pregnant and feeling overjoyed and blessed. But what if that is not the feeling you have? What if you feel scared, not capable or lonely and misunderstood? What if the life that grows inside you scares you? What if you are to afraid to express your true feelings and feel more and more isolated.
The whole sound scape of the movie will be some what eery. It will sound like you are inside the womans body. It will scratch and tear. You'll feel uncomfortable and that is exactly what we want. Because the situation this young woman is in, feels nothing less like that.
Because women don't often talk about these thoughts and feelings they seem rare. This is why we want to make this movie. So the women and their partners, family and friends know what also to expect during pregnancies.
We like to make it in a more Horror genre because let's be honest make a film like this as a drama will scare people away. We are inspired by 'The Antichirst'.
Making a movie costs a lot of money, that is why we started a kickstarter so we can actually make this film and spread this important message.

Why is it called 'Undertow'?
An Undertow is a current of water below the surface and moving in a different direction from any surface current. The feeling this woman has moves in a different direction of what her environment (familie, friend but also society) expects of her. She struggles not to drawn, but on the surface you seems okay.
