VFS OCI missing document submitted 9 days ago, still getting deadline reminders. Anyone experienced this?

So we applied for our son's OCI card through VFS NYC about two weeks ago. There was one mistake on our end, one of the documents we submitted was incorrect. The very same day we got the first application submission notification from VFS, within minutes we also received the missing documents email. We sent the correct document promptly and it was delivered 3 days later. I have the delivery confirmation.

It has now been 9 days since delivery and I am still receiving the same reminder emails with deadlines, the latest one says the deadline is 3 days from today.

I tried reaching out via their "Contact Us" page, but the submit button simply does not work. I tried multiple browsers, cleared cache and cookies multiple times, but nothing worked. Anyone who has dealt with VFS before probably already knows their website and service can be a nightmare.

I called them hoping to at least find out whether my documents had been reviewed. The representative just kept repeating a generic script with no useful information whatsoever.

What I can't figure out is:

  1. Has my document been reviewed and is still not meeting their requirement?
  2. Or is it simply still under review and the automated reminders keep going out regardless?
  3. Do they send a fresh email with new instructions after each review cycle, or does the same reminder just keep going until someone manually updates the status or the correct documents have been submitted?
  4. Also, if the application gets rejected due to this, do they actually refund the fees?

Has anyone been through something similar? How did it eventually get resolved? Any tips on actually reaching a real person at VFS or escalating to the Consulate directly would be really appreciated. Feeling completely in the dark here. 🙏
