SLPs who are childfree by choice
As a 30-year-old who has known fairly well for several years that I don’t want children, I find it really unique and at times confusing to be in a profession of caring for and educating other people’s kids. I am great at my job, kids (for the most part) like me and I like them, and I like our small-dose 30 minute interactions. I don’t want to interact with children after work - I’m introverted and need an hour or two of quiet alone time before going to interact with other humans again (if at all) in the evenings.
I would love to hear from other SLPs who chose not to have children -
Do you have any regrets?
Are you happy with your choice?
How have you navigated our profession as a childfree SLP?
