A group of tourists was stranded for hours because many taxi agents were refusing direct rides to Darjeeling unless they bought hotel bookings or full tour packages through them.
They had already booked their own homestay and got completely confused and exhausted.
If anyone is travelling to Darjeeling/Sikkim: • Pre-book your transport if possible
• Avoid random agents forcing package deals
• Verify local operators before paying advances
• Public transport queues can get extremely crowded during season time
