What do people think about this video?

I’m especially interested in people’s thoughts on the discussion around policing, public safety, and what actually drives crime in Utica.

One point I think deserves more discussion is poverty. If poverty creates the conditions that contribute to crime, then we can keep spending more on policing, incarceration, courts, and emergency services, or we can address the conditions producing the crime in the first place.

And ultimately, that affects taxpayers too. More crime means more public spending, which means higher costs for the city and potentially higher taxes.

So what do you think? Is poverty being treated as a root cause of crime, or are we primarily treating the symptoms?

I’m trying to get a clear historical picture of Utica’s mayors.

Going back roughly 60 years, how many mayors of the City of Utica were not Italian-American?

If anyone has a reliable source or a list of mayors with their backgrounds, please share it. I’m interested in the actual history, not speculation.
