Advanced question about builds and building theoretically incorrect on certain champs on purpose

I watched an itemization guide by Coach Rogue that listed out fundamentals for using certain item synergies that tend to maximize synergies with each item purchase: just some examples, though context dependent: BRUISER [Sundered -> Cleaver -> STERAKS]; ASSASSIN [Hubris -> Ghostblade -> SERYLDA]; MAGE [Luden -> Stormsurge -> RABA]; APHELIOS [Collector -> IE -> Lord Dom]

The underlying concept being that you want to build items that give stats that are synergized with usually the third or fourth item. Basically thinking about your items like an adc player but for each class of champions. So for the bruiser set given, you wouldnt really fit eclipse first or second because it doesnt give any health, and you want health items to benefit from the steraks shield that gives a lot of value by 3rd item. Or for the assassin set, you want a base of flat penetration before spiking by building percentage armor pen. The mage build given is about gaining as much ap from high ap items and amplifying it all with the rabadon passive, so you wouldnt slot low ap items like liandries into that build. And for the really cool aphelios build, collector gives both crit and lethality. You build IE second, which is not efficient without 75% crit chance. However you spike EXTREMELY hard at Lord dom because you'll have 75% crit and a good base of flat armor pen with collector--and aphelios gets lethality by skilling his E--on top of percentage pen. So you're getting 2 huge stat scalings.

This advice has helped me to come up with item builds for myself that have intention. However, although the theory is sound, I tend to play champs that fall off really hard. Like kled, rumble, pantheon. For kled if I go for [Titanic -> Hullbreaker -> Steraks], I'm spiking at 3 items, but my champion is really bad if the game is prolonged past 25min--which is about the 3 item territory. So do I build theoretically bad items that have little synergies, but maximizes my 2 item spike [voltaic -> Titanic] or do I still have the best chance at building for item synergy at 3 - 4 items?

And for the sake of argument, should a hyperscaler champ only build for maximum item synergy? Or are there cases where they should hamstring their overall build by slotting earlier spike items?
