First pic is my current 10 gallon with 8 ember tetras and 2 amano shrimp which unfortunately started leaking. I am upgrading to the 20 gallon long in the second pic and I’m very excited to upgrade my aquascape as well! I enjoyed working on my current tank scape but was never fully satisfied with it. I want this next one to be really upgraded and I need help with getting started.
What is the best substrate if I want a planted tank? Originally I used a planted tank soil and gravel but I think I want a carpeting plant this time. I really don’t want to do a CO2 set up so I know carpeting plants are a challenge. Pls recommend substrates and types of carpeting plants that may work.
If I transfer some of the stuff from my old tank will it speed up the cycle? What is the best way to do that (meaning transferring substrate, some of the water, squeezing out the filter into the new tank, etc.)?
Low maintenance plant recommendations and the best way to plant them would be helpful
Fish recommendations with the most personality/coolest patterns that would fit a 20 gallon and do well with my ember tetras & amano shrimp!
