Had my first colonoscopy today, 34(M). My symptoms were rectal bleeding, flat stools(sometimes pencil thin), anemia, tenesmus, and other concerning symptoms such as inguinal node pain. I had known hemorrhoids, both external, and a prolapsing internal. I was referred for a colonoscopy because of the anemia.
The prep was the worst part of this experience, it sucked not being able to eat/drink what i wanted. thought i didn't get everything out of me as well, also thought that it wasnt clear enough, but it ended up working out.
As everyone on here says, the procedure was the easiest part, they used propofol, and was out quickly. Before I even knew what hit me i was in the recovery room feeling pretty good, laughing and drinking a cold ginger ale. It was the best ginger ale I have ever had.
After waking up a bit the doctor came in and told me everything looked great, no polyps, nor anything concerning besides the hemorrhoids, which im grateful for. He told me not to do anything about the hemorrhoids because of how painful the surgery is, so ill have to figure something out that actually helps because these things are relentless.
I appreciate all the information on this sub, thats why I wanted to share my experience, especially for anyone dealing with similar symptoms. Its really nice to have piece of mind again, definitely worth it.
