I want to make to some kind of picture book as a gift for my girlfriend. It isn't my first time binding, I'm still a beginner so I'm familiar with some stitching, making covers, paper types, etc. and have made sketchbooks from papers before.

But how would I go-on with printed pages? What kind of paper should I use? What kind of binding technique should I use? How many pages would be recommended?

I only have limited materials here too, a basic printer, some basic tools, etc. so tips, techniques, and redirects would be greatly appreciated!
