As it says in the title im wondering about other expereinces subbing. I just started been a month now so its really the end of the school year so i basically expecting that i will be subbing next school year too. im fine with subbing, its boring and i do wish i had my own classroom but its chill for now.

im wondering if i should expect 1 year or 2 years of subbing. im looking for an art teaching job middle school or high school

I feel like i do actually nothing as a HS sub. my plans for everyclass every subject is "the students are working on Cavas or Schoology and they know what to do." The students dont even talk to me or eachother, its like i dont want to complain but its just weird situation imo. We will either watch a movie, or they students are doing a work period of their chromebooks. i wish i had something to do low key, sometimes ill like even organize stuff around the class out of boredom. idk what im even looking for in this post i quess just to complain lol

Im a brand new sub in Washington State so ive been doingin it for like maybe a month now. the expectaions seem to be very low compared to like any other job i have had. granted ive only worked service industry before getting my masters in education. I just wanted to know other experiences especially if you are in washington but i guess it doesnt matter where.

I mainly do highschool but prefer middle school grades and with high school specifically i have found im mostly just a babysitter. Every class i have subbed has been a work period which is fine by me but i cant really enforce the students do their work. They are able to use thier Chromebooks or their phones mostly to translate because of the area i work in. So mostly the studnets will do their work then play games. I personally dont care about that but im not sure what my expecations is from the teacher.

Being stricked about it has done absolutely nothing for me. i just tell my students that they need to be able to manage their time appropriatley and the expecation is to get their busy work done and when done work quietly. I dont enforce a phone policy because i have found its no use.

maybe i have answered my own questions but im just used to having an eyue on me at all times from my boss like in service. like am i gonna get in trouble if im sitting at the desk? ill walk around the class sometimes but i mean i feel like im not really there to get kids in trouble
