I have been thinking a lot about how in a lot of mammals the male leaves after mating and the female lives on with other females and the offsprings so what does the male even do? In some mammals menapouse is also a thing, so the female is responsible for both creating the next generation and passing knowledge to the next generation whereas the male just... does nothing. So why doesn't the female just eat the male after mating like in insects? Okay maybe eating is not healthy but why not just kill it for a bigger share of the resources?
