Hi all, first post here.

For context, I’ve been T1 for 23 years, on pump with g4 since Dec 2023 and diving for about 12 years.

On proper dive holidays with multiple days and multiple dives, I switch back to pens and Libre and that works well. What I’m wondering about is more occasional recreational diving on a normal holiday, for example one or two standard dives on a single day, where a full switch back to pens feels a bit excessive.

What I’m considering (and haven’t tried yet) is disconnecting the pump just before gearing up, leaving it in a dry bag on the boat, and reconnecting as soon as practical afterwards. Typical schedule would be something like two dives around 10am and 12pm, about 45 minutes max each

From experience I tend to drift down during dives so I aim to start a little higher but of course with pens I have basal. I always carry a BG meter on the boat.

I’d probably wait until the Instinct sensor is available before experimenting as clearly one dead sensor better than an added dead g4 transmitter , but I’d really like to hear from people who have actually done one or two dives like this while staying on a 780G or a similar closed loop system.

I’m particularly interested in:

Whether anyone has done this successfully without switching back to pens

How you thought about total disconnected time rather than just dive length

Whether you used temp target beforehand to stop the system pushing you towards 5.5 pre dive, or just left things alone

Anything you learnt the hard way the first time you tried it

Not looking for medical advice, just real world experience from people who dive and use pumps.

Thanks.
