Hello all, I have been having my right side of the jaw getting locked sometimes and clicking is always there. My jaw does not get locked only if I wear the night splint my orthodontist made for me which prevents my upper and lower molars to have a contact.

I have issue with my right side but my Mri says my left side has an issue and I would like to gather some useful thoughts suggestions for all the experienced helpful people in this group . Below are the findings:

Right TMJ: Mandibular condyle appears to have a normal shape and configuration and is appropriately located

within the mandibular fossa on the closed-mouth position. There is no evidence of marrow edema, flattening, or

degenerative spur formation. The meniscus appears to have a normal shape and contour with a bow tie

appearance. The posterior band of the meniscus approaches the 12 o'clock position of the mandibular condyle

within the mandibular fossa indicating appropriate positioning. There is no evidence of anteriorly, medially, or lateral

subluxation/dislocation. Upon motion into the open-mouth position, adequate anterior translation of the meniscus and

the mandibular condyle with respect to the articular eminence is noted. There is no evidence of a joint effusion. The

adjacent soft tissue structures appear to be unremarkable.

Left TMJ: Mandibular condyle appears to have a normal shape and configuration and is appropriately located within

the mandibular fossa on the closed-mouth position. There is no evidence of marrow edema, flattening, or

degenerative spur formation. Evidence of anterior dislocation and mild lateral subluxation of the left meniscus is

seen. Upon motion into the open-mouth position, adequate anterior translation of both the meniscus as well as the

condylar head with respect to the articular eminence is seen with evidence of complete recapture. There is no

evidence of a joint effusion. The adjacent soft tissue structures appear to be unremarkable.

IMPRESSION:

  1. Unremarkable MRI scan of the right TMJ.

  2. Anterior dislocation with mild lateral subluxation of the left meniscus is seen with evidence of complete recapture upon motion into the open-mouth position.

Thanks so much in advance—really appreciate any guidance or shared experiences
