Dr was concerned my A1c climbing too much

Im 43 year old male. Diagnosed a year ago exactly with an A1C of 10.7 and I weighed 275lbs. My next check was 5.7 then 5.3 then my last check was 5.4. Ive lost 80lbs and I feel like my sugar is very controlled. But my doc was concerned I was backsliding with a 0.1 increase in my number. I think he’s high.

1000mg metformin daily, nutrition, and lots of walking got me there. I was actually hoping to decrease my metformin but he doesnt want to.

Ate some garbage tonight... blood sugar 5.6 mmol.

History: T2 diagnosed in July 2025 with 10.7 a1c. Last reading was 5.2 a1c.

I've been controlled since my diagnosis and haven't been cheating a lot on what I eat.

Tonight at my Mother's Day gathering, I cheated with some stuff I haven't touched since last July like blueberry cheesecake and some Mennonite delicacy called "roll kuchen" which is basically deep fried dough with an extra serving of white flour. I had watermelon and a couple of hot dogs on wheat bread.

I totally anticipated having my blood sugar to spike above 8 mmol (144 mg/dl), but Im only 5.6 mmol (100 mg/dl) three hours after eating. why didn't it spike?

43 M 5.2 a1c

i almost passed out last night around 1am. started with some pain like constipation which was pretty intense but not the worst. Then my ears started ringing and my body started to sweat. was getting weak and my head was getting fuzzy. my immediate thought was my blood sugar was getting too low so i went to check my blood but i didnt make it more than 5 feet from my bathroom before i slowly hit the floor.

i never lost consciousness, but i laid there checking my pulse and considering my options. after about a minute my strength returned and i was feel good again.

Mirror showed no signs of stroke, but my face was grey. I checked my blood next and I was at 5.4 mmol which is where I want it to be.

Alarming to say the least, but Ill discuss it with my doctor and see. Anyone else got this kind of thing happen to them?
