For people that grew up in a depressing or backwards town, and left seeking a life elsewhere, at what age did you decide to leave and what were your primary motivations?

I will be visiting my partner's home city of Vilnius with her next weekend. She has a list of places that she wants to show me, but I would also quite like to take her and her family out for a meal on Sunday - maybe lunch or in the evening as a thank you for their hospitality. Not certain on exact times yet as I will be at a birthday party on the Saturday evening. Not set on any type of particular cuisine - more looking for recommendations of somewhere sort of central that serves good food and if possible, preferably also sells draught beer - maybe local craft beers if they're sold on draught? Are restaurants open on Sundays? Could anyone local give me a few ideas?
