Help with eating!!!
Heyo!! I was here a little bit ago asking for advice setting up an enclosure. I have a snake now!! He’s about a year-ish old, and his breeder was giving him a large thawed pinky each week. I knew my snake may not eat right away since I had just got him, but he only eats every few weeks, and only after food has been sitting for a day. I don’t want him eating bad food, but he refuses to eat unless I leave it. This may be because he doesn’t come up from burrowing much, but I’m not sure.
He still isn’t very comfortable with me, hissing and even pretending to attempt to bite me when I’m near his tank. I’ve only had him about two three months, and the breeder said he was super spicy too.
I recently saw he used the bathroom too, I’m not sure if that’s related in any way. He seems kinda skinny on the videos I get of him (there’s a camera in his tank) not dangerously skinny but skinnier than when I got him.
Warm side of his tank is 80 degrees, cool side is 70. Tank is long enough for him to stretch out completely and then some. I tried to clutter the tank quite a bit, there’s a humidity hide as well. Heat lamp is on 24/7, should I be turning it off at night?
