Sunday August 2nd, around 2:30pm, I was out on my balcony and heard two loud bangs.

First thought was fireworks, couldn’t place where it came from since that whole area is huge and mostly empty, it’s the old Nordwestbahnhof freight yard, the abandoned rail grounds between Nordwestbahnstraße and Dresdnerstr/Innstraße. A few minutes later I saw black smoke and flames coming up from one of the old warehouses in there, behind the Museum Nordwestbahnhof.

That’s when I put it together and called 122 myself.
Took around 10 minutes for the fire brigade to actually arrive, felt long for a fire tbh. I watched the whole thing from a distance. Police showed up too but didn’t seem to be doing much, just standing around.

Today (Monday) after work, around 7pm, I’m back on my balcony and there’s a big truck and a bunch of police cars surrounding the same spot again. They stayed there well into the night, looked like another sweep of the site. Two loud bangs before the fire even started, a slower than expected response, and now a second heavy police presence the next day.

Not going to speculate on what it means since I genuinely don’t know, but it’s a lot of activity for something with zero coverage anywhere. Checked ORF, Heute, MeinBezirk, VIENNA.AT, nothing at all.

Anyone knows what actually happened in there or seen anything themselves?
