Is my new cat unhappy with the litter?
I Adopted a cat 40 hours ago, he is 8 years old, very friendly, and he has a history of urinary tract issues!
The litter box was initially in my room for the first 12 hours, and during that he used the litter box twice with no issues.
I built one of those litter box shelters from amazon’s and then I moved the box into it, but i left all the entry ways open so he has multiple ways to get in and out and can see around him. However, since then he hasn’t used the litter and, it’s been over 24 hours now. I am starting to worry bc he has a history of urinary tract issues so i’m extra paranoid, should i just move his litter outside of it again to see if he doesn’t like that it’s sheltered?
I know new cats don’t usually use the washroom too often while they’re still getting settled, but because i’ve seen him use it already, i’m concerned.
I even put him inside of it when i initially moved it to show him where it is so it’s not that he doesn’t know where his litter is.
His behaviour since has been normal (I think! again I’ve known him for less than 2 days), but he’s been playing, eating, drinking water, lounging, cuddling, literally as i’m typing this he’s laying on my chest so i don’t think he’s sick.
but I also wouldn’t be against bringing him to the vet since since it’s been 24 hrs, any opinions are helpful!
