Look what i found 20 m deep

This shell is between 3000-8000 years old, geological timescales are still baffling to me

Geotechnical pile design research

Hi Guys

I am doing some research on the current workflow of geotechnical engineer when designing piles.

specifically on how designers go from a geological model to the designed pile dimensions.

so i made a list of 7 surveys instead of 1 long questionair to allow you to participate at your own pace. the surveys are mostly multiple choice questions and should be 10 min each (~20-30 Questions)

your participation is of great value

Access to financial data in the new agentic world

I was trying to make my own financial tracking software and after some research it turns out that "Australian law forbids banks from providing raw, automated API keys to individuals"

This means basically i have to pay some 3rd party service provider to access my personal information for me, and most probably pay them for said service.

Why is this the case? Is it to protect people from themselves? Is it a law that should be reviewed? What do you think?

a thought experiment

problem statement:

  1. there is a fly in a room
  2. there are 3 spotlights that are shining down
  3. we know the position of the spotlight relative to the ground
  4. we can see the shadows and measure them.
  5. we do not know where is the fly

given the information provided can we locate the fly in 3d space?
has there been an area of math that specifically solves this type of problem? if so i would love if you can point me to a good source material or the equations associated with this problem

I see a pattern but can't explain it

I was playing with the calculator as people do and started to notice something.

I made up some rule:

  1. to use the digits 0 to 9 (using all of them and only once)
  2. Place as many + or x as desired somewhere between the digits (no mixing operations)
  3. Get the result
  4. Add the digits of the result check if it's a multiple of 9

So ABCDEFGHIJ where each letter can be one digit at the order of your choosing and place + or x any place of your choosing

Example:

A) 0123+456+789=1368

1+3+6+8=18= 2 x 9

B) 01+23+45+67+89=225

2+2+5=9

C) 12345 x 67890=838102050

8+3+8+1+0+2+0+5+0=27= 3 x 9

Etc

My observation is that it's always a multiple of 9 i don't know why, is there a theory explaining this behaviour

Why aren't all stars positively charged?

Under the extreme conditions inside of stars and the abundance of ionizing radiation, wouldn't all electrons just escape the star they were in? I know some stars have a charge but why aren't all stars electrically charged? What's keeping electrons from escaping their grip?

hi guys I'm new at gardening and i have 6 seedlings of habaneros 1 seedling of jalapenos. they are still not very developed as i got them late in the season, i understand that chilies are not fan of the cold and generally need to be overwintered to survive my questions are then:

  1. can I overwinter them while they are still young?

  2. how should I overwinter them?

  3. is putting them undercover means indoors or my outdoor patio is good enough? is it just to protect them from too much rain and the cold and by being undercover they will be cold but not as wet?

  4. is it not worth the effort and should i let them die and start earlier next season?

thank you everyone for your help
