A drawing is yours because YOU made it. Not because you typed a prompt into a model. YOU spent the time, energy, and creativity on it. You created something instead of passively consuming.

That's the founding principle of Doodl: a daily drawing prompt app I built because I believe making something yourself feels fundamentally different than generating it. Your brain is doing the work. You're receiving the benefits. The art is actually yours.

Every day there's one shared prompt, and every person draws their own interpretation of it. Kind of Wordle vibes, but for drawing. No AI art allowed — it's not just a rule, it's the whole ethos. Almost any medium is welcome, as long as you created it with your own hands. Getting to see how hundreds of different brains interpreted the same prompt is the best part!

I've been watching the conversation in creative communities shift over the past year as I built this, and it only strengthened my resolve. There's a growing community of people who aren't necessarily anti-technology — they just want spaces that put the human part first. I built this app for that idea, both for myself as an artist, and for others.

Since beta, our users have collectively self-reported over 150 DAYS of time spent making art. That's every "I spent 15 minutes on this today" added up across the whole app. I think that's genuinely beautiful - 150 days of human creativity that wouldn't have happened otherwise. More time than any one person could spend in a year doing art (probably lol).

Doodl just launched publicly to both app stores yesterday after 5 months of beta and almost 1,400 users. If you've been looking for a creative space that's unapologetically human, come doodle with us! We'd love to have you.
