Id like to preface this by saying it was mostly my fault.

Ive been working as an electronics associate for maybe 3 weeks. Today I was helping a woman with apple watches. She comes up asks some questions about them, i show her which ones are in stock and overall it was going pretty good. At this point we have quite a few customers back there and my coworker was busy with someone else.

The lady seemed unsure on whether she wanted to buy it or not, and said she was going to get it online. She thej said she wanted to look at it. We don’t keep them up front, I assumed maybe she wanted to see the display. Another customer calls me over, so I go to help them (I know this was a mistake now). In my mind I was thinking that id help them real quick and go find someone to open the room where we keep them at after.

After I get done helping the other customer, the woman blows up on me. Saying that I wasnt doing my job, and that she wants to talk to my manager. So i wind up walking to the back and get it for her. My manager goes out there, she insults him as well. When my manager comes back there to grab the apple watch he tells me that she said I was a racist. He was pretty cool about it, and I understand the fuck up now.

How can I handle situations like this better in the future?
