Anyone doing predictive analytics in their safety program?

Carnegie Mellon University ran models across safety observation data from 250 worksites and got incident prediction accuracy between 80-97% using inspection data, not injury records. Their full dataset covered over 112 million observations across 15,000 worksites.

But some push back on this, arguing leading indicators aren't predictive tools at all. They just measure activity, exposure, and administrative effort.

We've been experimenting with feeding leading signals (near miss frequency, inspection completion rates, corrective action backlogs, as a combined score. Early results are interesting but data quality is the battle.

Has anyone got something similiar working in practice?
