How to deal with Sunk Cost Fallacy of the career pivot?

Hi everyone,

I have posted here before, with some queries about pulling the plug on my IT career and pivoting to RT or MRT.

But what scares me is the sunk cost fallacy of having spent 6 years total for a BS and MS in CS.

how did you deal with it when pivoting? I am 25 and in Canada. Also, how do I even select a college for this? Did you use a consultant? Because this is a licensed field, I just want a college that is easy to get into with my grades only.

Thanks!

Pivoting from IT to RT or MRT. Wish to connect with someone.

Per the title. I have posted here before too, and got really motivated to jump in. But, since I have an IT background and schooling, I don't have some pre-reqs and also don't know how exactly the system works for admissions and all.

Plus, being 25, and with a MS CS from a Canadian University (currently in Canada btw), I have already spent 7 years in school. So just a little hesitant to spend 3 more (wish to do it really, but dunno how to survive another 3 years without pay as a student) in Canada.

Also, what schools to target per my profile, for the Fall 2027 intake.

If I can connect with someone who's done the pivot from IT or other non - med field, would be really fantastic.

Thanks!

Is 25 too old to start a RT course in Canada?

I am 25, with a MS CS and am looking for a pivot out of IT.

if I start looking at applications right now, then Fall 2027 is the intake I can get into.

with a BS and a MS, does it make sense to go back for a 3 year program? I just need some real honest opinions as I feel very torn on what to do.
