So I saw a design for a tabletop board gaming table and thought wow thats a lot of money, this would be an enjoyable project for me and my Dad to figure out and do together.
But this seems like a complicated design for wood and with the angled feet I feel replicating this would need adjusting, correct me if I am wrong and you see an easy way for me to construct the table being sold online.
The main qualities that I want to include are:
- the actual tabletop with the arm rests and cupholders
- the compactness and portability of the table. Basically I would like the be able to neatly put it against a wall.
So where i would like some advice is on how to facilitate the ability to put it away.
The easiest way seems to be make the table top detachable and then store the legs separately.
I also was looking at the mechanism for folding ping pong tables, but I would have to make it comfortable to sit at if 4-6 people are sitting at the table with the additional legs ping pong tables have in the middle.
Another mechanism for folding was scaling up a folding tv tray. And supporting the tabletop that way, although with this i also have different concerns about making it able to bear the weight of 6 large friends resting their forearms on it while we play games.
I also would be open to any suggestions you have for materials. I would be willing to invest some money so its nice and not just a plywood tabletop, but I also dont need anything too extravagent.
Roughly I could budget up to 300-500 towards materials, but that is flexible if there are concerns.
TLDR: I want to build a folding board game table. But want input about how to make it fold compactly. If anyone has done a project like this or has suggestions on materials or designs for a card table that could fold up like this I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit: I see my phone auto corrected board gaming to bargaining, as soon as I get home I will update the title, or when I figure it out on my phone
