Admitted!!!:)

So, I got in to the cc nursing program I applied to and took my pre-reqs part time at!!! I’m very excited and proud of myself as I’m a Mom of two balancing school and work, making a career change later in life, with a super supportive husband that is my cheerleader(I realize how lucky I am to have him on this journey! Huge credit to you single parents out here doing it ALL. I admire you!!)

That being said, I was able to land a job part time as a CNA on a cardiac telemetry floor in hospital to start working and get some experience. This floor is heavyyyyy. We are usually short staffed, but I feel like I’m running to keep up constantly as we do three sets of vitals on top of caring for the patients hygiene, etc. I am learning a ton, work with an awesome team, and getting great experience. But lately I am starting to freak out about doing this job and going to nursing school come Fall. I will probably go PRN if I can to keep up with the schooling and clinicals. But is this normal to be questioning if I should even keep working as a CNA at this hospital while in school? A lot of the seasoned RNs are already giving me advice about keeping my mental health in check because nursing school is a doozy. I have considered night shift but even the manager discouraged me switching a bit which tells me the nights are probly still busy. I appreciate any perspectives/advice as I am super grateful to even get the chance to work in a hospital before school, but just already feeling the weight of whats coming a bit.

Side note- for those of you starting out, you can totally do this path! One foot in front of the other! You got this!!
