s a 50-minute layover for a non-Schengen to Schengen transit realistic at Vienna (VIE)?
Hi everyone,
Next month I have two upcoming trips from Chișinău to Stuttgart with layovers at Vienna Airport (VIE).
I have two different connection windows on these trips:
- Trip 1: 50 minutes between flights
- Trip 2: 1 hour and 20 minutes between flights
Both are booked as a single, protected ticket, but I am trying to figure out the actual terminal logistics. Because the first flight originates outside the Schengen zone, I know I have to clear the main transit passport check in Vienna to get to the domestic Schengen departures.
For anyone who transits through VIE frequently:
- How efficient is the non-Schengen transit line moving during peak hours right now?
- Is 80 minutes relatively safe, or is it still a rush?
- If the queue is backed up during my 50-minute window, do airport staff pull people forward based on short connection times?
- What is the path like from the arriving non-Schengen gates (G gates) to the Schengen departures (F gates)? Is it a massive walk or mostly changing levels?
Thanks for any insight on how the terminal flows!
Update: I wanted to add that I have single ticket and the terminal is the same for inbound and outbound flight. But as we all know - sh*t happens, so help me almighty Hermes, god of travelerrs! 😁
