Coverdell Fellowship Question
Hello!! I recently received a conditional offer for Peace Corps Response in Georgia as an E-Learning Specialist (10-month assignment). One of the things I’m really interested in long term is eligibility for the Coverdell Fellowship — specifically programs like NYU Wagner/NYU SPS, where even partial tuition support could be life-changing.
I know standard Peace Corps Response eligibility for Coverdell generally requires 12 months of service within a 24-month period, so I’m curious:
- How common are 2-month extensions for PCR positions?
- Has anyone successfully extended specifically to reach Coverdell eligibility?
- Are extensions more likely in education/e-learning placements?
- Did anyone have schools evaluate eligibility case-by-case?
I’m very excited about the opportunity overall, but trying to realistically understand long-term graduate school pathways before departing. Would appreciate any insight from current or returned PCR volunteers.
