Hey guys, im in shibuya right now on a solo trip and the loneliness is hitting. im a pretty big introvert (used to live in Japan before so i kinda blend in but still feel awkward starting convos).
staying in a hostel with other travelers but having a hard time mixing in. would love to do something low key with someone like coffee, walking around, food, or just chilling somewhere.
i look Japanese, live in Canada (and fluent japanese, so I can translate or do low key guide-ish stuff to if you want). if youre also solo or down to meet up feel free to comment or dm.

Day 2 of my trip in Tokyo, and the loneliness is starting to kick in. I’m an hyper introvert, having a solo trip in Japan, enjoyed it a few times before, but this time everything feels different (I used to live here before for context). I kinda wanted to meet new people, make friends and socialize, so I got a hostel. Bunch of other travellers (almost all Western looking guys) are socializing but it feels to hard to mix in. I look almost exactly like a Japanese, so it also might be awkward for them to start talking to me unless I talk, and I’m too foreigner even if I tried to talk to ppl. And I’m too awkward person to start talking to ppl myself. So I feel like I’m in a really weird spot.I might be too serious about all this, but I feel like I’ve internalized Japanese awkwardness to much in me and even after leaving here, it’s kicking in, like muscle memory. I know all this sounds dumb, like duh they don’t care just go and talk to them. But it is difficult.
SO, the question is, how do I meet people, where do I meet people, anyone feels the same, or just any advice? Just wanted to share what I’m feeling, and/or looking for any advices. If you read this far, thanks :)
