Heel-toe method for hill starts?

So I passed my driving test yesterday. In my country the manual license is different from automatic.

Basically we are challenged to drive round a course and then do box parking. But it’s on a slope

There are many people who failed the manual and changed to auto at last minute. Most failed to get the car to start safely on an incline uphill.

I discovered why. The car would roll backwards soon as u get off the brake, even with the parking brake; unless u were in neutral.

So I did a weird thing where at the biting point, I was holding it on the brake with my toes; releasing the brake slowly and transitioning to the throttle gradually. It moved very smoothly and I was shocked and surprised.

My instructor had taught only handbrake hill starts but that wouldn’t work in this particular car.

I saw heel-toe but for hill start method in passing on YouTube but didn’t think it was a think. That video has like 2k views there only. And no one else ever talks abt it really.

So is this method safe to use consistently or is it bad for the car components somehow?

Edit; Am in a small African country called Uganda. So the cars available at the test site aren’t exactly in great condition. ( For those asking how a car can roll back even Parking brake; this car was old. To park it safely, I realized u can only do so in Neutral)
