I was looking at investing in some mutual funds outside India but Google Gemini discouraged me saying that these will be taxed at my current personal income tax slab rate of 30% and not the usual LTCG 12.5% regardless of the holding period as they hold more than 65% in foreign stocks.
Is this true? .
If the taxation is at the usual 12.5 (long) or 20 (short), are there any particular funds you have had good experience with?
Thanks.
This seems to suggest that it is NOT at tax slab rate if held longer?
